DescriptionThe International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Task Force on water and forests covers: "the role of forests in water, sediment and nutrient balances, and runoff production in different regions, including the effect of forest cover on water quantity and quality; the hydrologic impacts of forestry activities such as timber harvesting, roading, afforestation, forest restoration and agroforestry; and the role of forests in mediating extreme events and natural disasters, and their impact on the quantity and quality of runoff". There are 9 members of the task force, coordinated by Dr Rob Vertessy from the Cooperative Research Centre for Catchment Hydrology, at the commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). The site contains the terms of reference of the task force, as well as reports, newsletters, activities, events and links.
