DescriptionThe purpose of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Task Force on forests in sustainable mountain development is "to advise the Executive Board on current issues, initiatives, and research needs, and provide a framework for developing and strengthening linkages, both within the IUFRO membership and between the membership and other relevant organisations and initiatives" with respect to the roles of forests in the sustainable development of mountain areas. Coordinated by Veronika Stockli of the Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research. Members have responsibilities for specific areas: South America, Central America and the Caribbean, Eastern North America, Western North America, East Asia/Pacific, West Asia, Africa/international and Europe.
