DescriptionCompiled by the US Environmental Protection Agency Great Lakes National Program office, the atlas provides an introduction to endangered natural communities inhabiting the lands stretching south and west of the shores of Lake Michigan. The report is presented in individual chapters as downloadable PDF files. It covers wetlands, prairies, savannahs, forests, woodlands, marine environments, species diversity, protected areas and ongoing conservation efforts. It also describes over 100 rare plant and animal species which are found in the greater Chicago area. This information is complemented with photographs, maps, tables and references.
