DescriptionIn 1993, a coalition of 22 Canadian organisations representing all aspects of the forest industry was formed, to establish and promote sustainable forest management (SFM) certification in Canada. Through the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) the coalition have produced SFM standards Z808 and Z809, and continue to implement them, as well as aiming for international recognition. An up-to-date status report is included on Canadian forests that are certified according to CSA, ISO (International Standards Organisation), FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative, American Forest and Paper Association). Also, a considerable amount of data is presented about forest resources in different regions of Canada.
